An Ostara story

from Taliesin Soladraig:

The goddess Eostre created a race of humans and loved them as her children.

Eostre also possessed a beautiful bird that laid different colored eggs every time it laid.

The goddess loved her children and would do anything and give them anything they asked for.

One day her children asked her for the beautiful bird so they may love it as she does.

Loving her children as she did she gave them the bird to play with.

The bird, not liking this, would fly out of the children's reach eery time they came close.

This flustered the children and angered Eostre.

She transformed the bird into a land bound animal so that her children could catch the bird. She changed into a rabbit.

There was only one thing: the rabit continued to lay the multi-colored eggs.

Embarrassed by how she angered the goddess the rabbit hid the eggs out of shame.

The children found the beautiful eggs and it made them happy.

And thus was the punishment of the bird that she would lay her eggs and hide them for the goddess' children to find every year for ever.

Here is the story of the "Easter" bunny for your enjoyment. Now go out and find some eggs.

Happy Ostara everyone.
